Spring is in the air, sort of. It's been nice to get this winter behind us for the most part and start planning Spring/Summer 2013, however with the possibility of snow by the end of the week it's not leaving me a happy Nicky to say the least. I guess I shouldn't complain though because it could always be worse; could be dealing with earthquakes, wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, tsunamis, malaria mosquitoes and venomous creatures that bite such as that new face sized tarantula discovered in Sri Lanka. Guess I'll take snow & cold FTW!
On March 21st I was asked by my long time friend and oldschool Toronto artist Nicholas Sinclair aka Dudeman to document his first solo art show entitled "Colour Therapy". For years Nicholas has been pushing the creative envelope with his vibrant art work and unique style which has landed him numerous gigs with clients such as Hermes, Chatelaine, Rogers Wireless, Holt Renfrew, Microsoft and countless other big name clients. For those that were at the event, here's the photos you've been looking for. For those who missed out, here's where you can see exactly what you missed.
Maybe it's because I'm a Pisces and I'm not into 'cannibalism' (ha ha), or maybe it's just because I stick true to the nickname "Picky Nicky" and sometimes have issues with stepping outside of my comfort zone when it comes to what food gets past my lips, however whatever the reason I'd never tried salmon before is it's now behind me.
Ehrenwort is a German word meaning "Word of Honour"; this was what everything at Camp 30 revolved around. Unlike what you'd typically expect from a P.O.W. camp these prisoners were permitted to leave for the day on the honour system provided they returned for the evening's roll call. Although there were a few escape attempts during its operation, not one prisoner successfully escaped from Camp 30.
I like to spend them at home editing photos such as the one in this post. It's not often I get time to just hang out and do nothing (without getting distracted) so productive days like this are always a welcome addition to my schedule, or current lack there of. And when there is time to be lazy then that means make the most of exerting as little energy moving so that means using a keyboard and mouse are certainly acceptable "low impact" activities, at least that's how my brain works.
As always I'm surfing the web and randomly coming across some pretty outrageous and obscure stuff on a daily basis, but yesterday I found a video that made me stop and think a little longer than most. The following video is an audio excerpt from a lecture by the late Alan Watts and I suggest taking 3 minutes to give it a listen.
This is probably one of the coolest GIF's I have ever seen. Hats off to the awesome person who created this. **UPDATE I found the source, you can find more on the Inside Insides blog. The corn looks like a mouth! Andy Ellison, you rock!
Since Facebook is having issues recently and making my uploads look like garbage thanks to nasty compression I've decided to post these pics up here. This week my friends and I went and checked out Something Strange at Comedy Bar on Bloor, it was a great show and I was happy I brought my camera because the fire show put on by A.J Explosion yielded some great shots.
