What if money was no object…

As always I'm surfing the web and randomly coming across some pretty outrageous and obscure stuff on a daily basis, but yesterday I found a video that made me stop and think a little longer than most. The following video is an audio excerpt from a lecture by the late Alan Watts and I suggest taking 3 minutes to give it a listen.

"What makes you itch? What sort of a situation would you like? [...] It’s so amazing that as a result of our kind of educational system, crowds of students say, “Well, we’d like to be painters, we’d like to be poets, we’d like to be writers, but as everybody knows, you can’t earn any money that way.”

[...] if you do really like what you’re doing — it doesn’t matter what it is — you can eventually become a master of it. It’s the only way to be a master of something, to be really with it [...] And then you’ll be able to get a good fee for whatever it is."

This video made me think a lot about what it means to be truly happy. Sure money will always be an issue to some degree given the way our world works, however it's how much of an issue we let it be in our lives which I think is more of the problem that needs attention. I'll be the first to admit it would be a bitter pill to swallow for me as I've grown fairly accustomed to my current lifestyle and to downsize would certainly be a tall order, but to fulfil my dreams maybe it's the right choice if I wish to attain the things that would make me happy.

I believe the only two things you should ever regret in life are the things you always wanted to do but never made the time to do, and the things that happened both good or bad that you never learned from. I'll be damned if I let myself have any regrets when my time comes.

So, what would YOU do if money was no object?
